Bala - Overall

James Rusden and Joe Williams win both races today to take first place on tie break from Ben Saxton and David de Boltz (both on 7 points). Ben Palmer and Piers Strong finish in third on 15 points with Matt Rainback and Simon Foskett in fourth on 23 points. Owain Matthes and Tim Saxton take 5th on 26 points ahead of first ladies Imogen Stanley and Kate MacGregor on 30 points. First overseas boat were Stephen Tiernan and Rob Lehane in 11th (54pts) ahead of Timoth O'Laoire and Brian Kelleher in 12th (57pts).  (20/04/2008)

Selection Series - Day 1 Summary

Four races were sailed in strong gusty easterlies moderating slightly in the late afternoon. Experience (and weight on the wire) was evident in the day's results.

Ben Saxton and David de Boltz, RYA 420 Youth Champions dominated the day with three firsts and a second. James Rusden and Joe Williams as snapping at their heels with a first, two seconds and a seventh. Third to fifth is being hotly contested with Owain Matthews and Tim Saxton on 17 points with Ben Palmer and Piers Strong tied on 18 points with Matt Rainback and Simon Foskett.

Leading ladies pairing are RYA 420 Ladies Champions Imogen Stanley and Kate Macgregor in 7th on 29 points. Rebecca Kalderon and Rosie Sibthorp are second ladies in 14th and Lucy de Boltz and Milly Parkin are in 16th

Bala - Day 1

17:25 Race 4 has been completed and the fleet are returning to shore (probalby for a nice warm shower and drink). All very tight on the finish line and our observer could not definitively identify the finishers. Will need to wait for results.
The first discard applies to the Bala open but not the selector series.
Two races are scheduled for tomorrow.

Which event(s) should I sign up for?

Only sign up for the Team Selection Series if you are a eligible to represent GBR at the above events. Overseas boats, please sign up for the Bala and Highcliffe Opens if you are racing in the British Team Selection Trial Series.

You can also enter only one of the two events. British boats signing up for only one event will NOT be considered for Team places.
