Senior Open Team for Irish Nationals 2016

IOCA (UK) invites Senior sailors (Optimist age 13) who are interested in competing at the Irish Nationals to join an “open” team. The Irish Nationals will take place at Lough Derg Yacht Club on 15th to 19th August 2016 and has a Senior and Junior fleet, like the British Nationals. IOCA (UK) selects an official GBR Junior team for the Irish Nationals every year, so this open team will run alongside this, as an informal team. The Senior open team will be parent led, organised and funded, with IOCA just facilitating. This event will provide a great opportunity for Seniors to compete as a group at an International competition. It is expected that the group will be about 8 sailors with a coach and will operate much like a team. Sailors should be competent main fleet competitors at IOCA main events. John Perham (admin@optimist.org.uk) is taking expressions of interest on a first come first served basis.  (26/02/2016)

RIBS Sign up sheet

The RIB sign-up sheet for the Spring Championships is now open.

We are currently looking for 15 helms and 13 crews and 7 parent ribs - CBYC are providing 8 ribs. Of the total current requirement of 15 ribs, 9 will be allocated to safety, 1 to Medic, 1 to Measurer, 2 to Marks and 2 to Jury. We may need more depending on numbers so please do not be put off volunteering if you see that the sheet is looking full. All offers of help will be gratefully received but will be subject to final allocation.

As, usual, we will try and get as many parent volunteers on the water as possible.

By volunteering as a helm you are confirming that you are suitably qualified and experienced and that the RIB you are helming is adequately insured for this event.
