0957 - Glorious morning here in Wyemouth. Hazy sunshine and feeling quite Spring like. Currently have 5 knots fromn the NW, so pretty light, but both the Gild and Silver fleets are launching as I type

1033 - Gold Fleet race 4 away, with the individual recall flag flying. 5 knots of wind on the course

1045 - Silver Fleet race 4 away

1049 - Gold Fleet race 4, provisional poitions at first mark. 1st 5608, 2nd 5805, 3rd 5806, 4th 5863, 5th 5789, 6th 5707

1100 - Silver Fleet race 4, provisional positions at first mark. 1st 5459, 2nd 5746, 3rd 5649, 4th 5849

1114 - Gold Fleet race 4, positions at windward mark second time round. 1st 5805 (20 boat lenght lead, but hit mark and had to do turns), 2nd 5863, 3rd 5806, 4th 5707, 5th 5608

1208 - Gold Fleet in sequence for Race 5

1211 - Gold Fleet Race 5 away. All clear, IRL 1349 got a good start at the committee boat end, but looks like a fair bit of port line bias.....

1230 - apologies for the loss of transmission - bit of essential webite maintenance...

Silver Fleet Race 5 away - GBR5874 clearly read the line - pin end start and crossed the entire fleet. GBR5451 and GBR 5555 also got pretty good looking starts. Gold Fleet - now at mark 1 - 1st 5 round were GBR5608, GBR5833, GBR 88,GBR5826, GBR5799
1257 - Silver fleet on the reach in race 2 with the following leading boats: 5896, 5800, 5746, 5555 5334, 5902

Breeze is now light and shifty....... So after 5 races completed, the top 5 runners and riders in the Gold fleet are - Scott Wallis, Annabel Vose, Matt Whitfield, Ben Batten, Jess Lavery. And in the Silver fleet Jamie Calder, Ross Mackley, Milo Gill-Taylor, Syd McLean and Oliver Guess.One more race to go.

1047 - Gold Fleet have launched, Silver fleet to be launched shortly

1125 - Race 1 Gold fleet have started, individual recall flag is flying. 5761 and 5640 had particularly good starts. Wind 5knots 120 degrees.

1133 - Race 1 Gold Fleet, all sailors over have returned so a clean start. Sliver fleet are in sequence

1140 - Race 1 Gold Fleet, windward mark rounding. 1st 5608, 2nd 5740, 3rd 5894, 4th 5789, 5th 5550. Seems to have paid to have gone middle right up the beat

1155 - Race 1 Silver Fleet, windward mark rounding. 1st 5459, 2nd 5555, 3rd 5800

1158 - Race 1 Silver fleet at the gate, 1st 5800, 2nd 5459, 3rd 5555, 4th 5766

1205 - Race 1 Gold Fleet. Real battle going on between Aran Holman and Annabel Voseup the second beat

1223 - Race 1 Gold Fleet. Provisional results 1st GBR5740 Annabel Vose, 2nd GBR5608 Arran Holman, 3rd GBR5805 Scott Wallis, 4th GBR5792 Matthew Whitfield.

1228 - Race 1 Silver Fleet. Provisional results 1st GBR5896 Jamie Calder, 2nd GBR5800 Ross Mackley, 3rd GBR5555 Ben Waha 1248 - Gold Fleet going into sequence. We can also see blue sky from the race office!

1253 - Gold Fleet off 1st time for race 2, in around 8 knots.

1303 - Silver Fleet away clean for race 2. 5872, 5459 and 5755 had good starts.

1306 - Gold Fleet windward mark race 2. First round is 5805 then 5792, 5640, 5723.

IOCA(UK) Spring Championships

In 2009 we will be running new events with the intention of improving the quality of competition for our sailors. The first of these will be the IOCA(UK)Spring Championships - to be held over the weekend of Feb 28th and March 1st 2009 at the newly completed Olympic venue, the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy. This should be a great way to put that winter training into practice and kick off your 2009 season.

On-line entry and full details will be available here early in January. Key provisional information:

Event Dates: Feb 28th and March 1st
Venue: WPNSA
Entry fee: 40.00 by 18th February

The event is Open to all eligible competitors (there is no entry limit).
There will be racing for Main fleet only - i.e there will be no Regatta fleet at this event.

This event will NOT count towards 2009 rankings, NOR will it form part of the 2009 World or European selection series.

Racing will be organised in Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets.

This is the first time we have run the Spring Championships, and we are trying out a number of things. We would like your views on what works about the event, and what we should look to improve. Entry fee
The entry fee is 40.00 if paid by the 18th February. After that a additional 15 late entry fee is due.

Event Measurement
At registration, boat documents will be checked for a valid bouyancy certificate.

No other checks will be made, but you should bring the boats IODA log book to the event.
