Sunday morning

13:20 News from the front. Boats are currently being packed up. There was NO racing for the Main Fleet and the Regatta Fleet had one race.

11:10 The main fleet currently has "AP" flying. The regatta fleet are preparing to launch. The wind is still light and patchy on many parts of Grafham Water.

Saturday round-up

With the windy conditions on Saturday, the experienced sailors revelled in the conditions. Aaron Smith stamped his authority on the event winning all three of his races. Anna Burnett last year's only female World's team member showed her preference for stonger wind and ended the day lying in 2nd overall with two 2nds and a 1st. This year's winner of the Volvo Musto Selection Trials, James Grant, continued to show his form finishing in third overall also on 5 points but loosing on countback. Fellow Restronguet sailors David Grant and Christian Townrow are lying in 4th and 5th.

The regatta fleet found the conditions very testing with a number of boats retiring. One race was sailed in the morning and two further races were held after the lunch break. Overnight leader is Joshua Belben from Stokes Bay on 8 points followed by Jemima Lawson from Emsworth on 11 points. In third place is Hugo Andrews from Hayling who improved as the day went on. Joe Girling from Norfolk and Hannah Muskett from Royal Lymington finished in 4th and 5th respectively.

The weather forecast for Sunday is light winds from the East.

Saturday morning

Wind 18 knots and gusty. Main fleet started on time at 11:00, Regatta at 11:45.

Conditions are challenging, especially for the Regatta fleet and the rescue boats with them.

12:30 - Main fleet lining up for 2nd start with the Regatta fleet coming in for lunch after 1 race.

Local Info in preparation for the Weekend

Those of you that have been to Grafham before will know that if we have rain in the week before the event it will be muddy, very muddy! Remember to pack your wellies

Grafham have asked that if you've not booked a space for your tent or camper van please do not pitch up (no pun intended) and take up what appears to be a vacant space. This was an issue at the Topper event at Grafham recently and caused issue and embarassment when those that had booked a space turned up to find someone already in their space. We are guests of Grafham Water SC this weekend please cna I ask all parents to respect this.
