Your help is required

In order to run such a large event, we are always reliant on your help. Click on the above link and you will see a list of tasks. Please volunteer for one or more sessions.  (31/07/2011)

Online entry - Staged payment option

As a Class we recognise that at times meeting the financial demands that sailing can bring will pose challenges. We have therefore decided to introduce an option for staged payments of entry fees. As you follow the entry process the entry system will enable you to opt for staged payments or payment in full. If you opt for staged payments you will be asked to make an initial payment of 25% of the entry fee with a further 25% due on the 1st April and the balance due on the 1st June, via 'Manage your Entry' on the event web site.

Please note that paying by instalments is not intended to facilitate the payment of a deposit, enabling a sailor to withdraw at a later stage and receive a refund of the entry fee paid to date.

Optimist Maintenance Measurers Course

Simon Rogers will be running an Optimist maintenance measurers course at the Nationals on 2nd August and Andy Wilboe of the RYA will be conducting a Sail measurers course on 3rd August. This two day course will allow the candidates to become maintenance measurers for the class. Currently the Optimist class only has 17 measurers (34 last year) and we are very keen to recruit some new blood. If you are interested please sign up via the link in the heading above. The courses will start after the sailors launch in the mornng and will tie in with the various fleets as required. If you would like to know more about what is involved email Simon at, technical@optimistsailing.org.uk or call 07711 007 002.

An opportunity to receive coached support at the Nationals

We have been made aware of the following......

NATIONALS COACHING WITH THE MOT

The Midland Optimist Team, a friendly bunch of sailors and coaches are looking for up to 3 more sailors to join them for the Nationals. Support for the sailors takes the form of briefings and on the water coaching for the race days (Jun/Sen fleets) and/or pre event training for all. The emphasis under our head coach Chris Whitty is as ever on ensuring the children have a good experience at the event as much as on performance. Cost will be no more than £15 per day.
