Entry - A Cautionary Tale

For every venue we have to set a maximum number of sailors permitted to enter - sometimes this is based on safety cover, sometimes on venue restrictions, sometimes on shore facilities, usually it is a combination of factors.

Whilst we always endeavour to accept every entry request we receive, however late that might be, sometimes it is simply not possible. This was the unfortunate case at the recent Spring Championships, where the number of entries far exceeded the initial estimated entry limit, A significant number of those entry requests were made after the entry had closed, and after all the planning/event logistics were in place. As a result some sailors were unable to participate in the event.

If you are planning to attend the 2014 Inland Championships - Please enter and pay for your entry straight away. Entry is only confirmed once a payment is received. Late entries are at the sole dicretion of the organisers and a late payment fee will be applied.

De-Shrimping Process

Those who were at the Inlands last year or regularly sail at GWSC will know all about the Killer Shrimp problem at the reservoir which means we must all abide with the club’s washdown procedure.

The Environment Agency has placed strict controls on GWSC which require each dinghy, sailor and RIB to be thoroughly washed down before they leave the site at the end of any sailing event.

GWSC are well practised at this routine and have created wash down points for both dinghies and RIBS – please cooperate with the volunteers who will be manning the washdowns and be patient! (Very, very patient if we don't have enough volunteers to help - please sign up on the volunteer rota!)
